Play The Classics Again Right Now!

Here's some music to inspire you while you read my super easy instructions.

Go to your favorite search engine and search for vNES or you can go directly to Virtual NES with this link:

http://www.virtualnes.com/

You will not need to download anything. This site runs on Java, which almost all computers already have. In some rare cases, you may be prompted to upgrade your Java if your computer is an older model, but it's unlikely.

The site is legally allowed to offer any video game they have in their posession, and they have a great selection. To search for a game, just look for the letters at the upper right hand corner and click on the letter the game begins with. They have many of the classics, such as the Mario series, Kirby, Donkey Kong, and Legend of Zelda. If you would like, you can donate your old and unused game cartridges to the site so they can legally add more to the selection.

Once you find the game you want to play, click on the link. You can either click on the name, or choose to play with sound off by clicking on the sound icon to the far right of each game in the list. If you have a good connection, the game will load within seconds. These games can be played on a dial up connection, but it'll take a little longer.

After the game screen loads, it will prompt you to start by pushing either the enter or spacebar button. The homepage of the site has a diagram near the upper right corner, showing which keys correspond to the video game controls. In case you can't find it, arrow buttons are for movement, ctrl and enter correspond respectively to select and start, and z and x on your keyboard correspond to a and b.

If you're having trouble with anything from getting a game to start or getting stuck in a certain level and needing a walkthrough, there's a great help forum available on the menu at the upper right hand of the site's homepage.

I hope you have several hours to spend here because you might not want to leave!

***A safety note: There are many other video game emulators online, but most of them require downloading their software. I strongly suggest against doing this, as downloads can be dangerous and sometimes harm your computer.
